ASU (Aerial Self-supported Uni-tube)
ASU fiber optic cable is a specialized aerial transmission cable designed for overhead deployment (e.g., strung between utility poles). Its advantage lies in the "self-supported" design—unlike traditional aerial cables that require a separate messenger wire for mechanical support, ASU cables integrate mechanical strength directly into their structure. This simplifies installation, reduces material costs, and makes it ideal for medium-to-long-distance outdoor communication networks.
ASU Fiber Optic Cable Structure:
The 2-24 fibers are positioned in a loose tube made of PBT filled with gel; Then the tube and 2 FRP are SZ stranded to form the cable core which is filled with water blocking yarn; Finally PE or AT outer jacket is extruded while one ripcord is applied in the jacket for easy strip.
